I walked out onto the porch, sipping my coffee and feeling the warm sun on my skin. The ocean was calm today, with just a gentle lapping of the waves against the shore. I took a deep breath, feeling the salty air fill my lungs, and listened to the sound of the gulls crying overhead. "Hey, Kevin?" I called out, knowing he was probably up and about already, getting the day started. He poked his head out from the kitchen window, a cheerful smile on his face. "Morning, love! What's on the agenda today?" I set my coffee down and wandered over to join him. "Not much, just thinking about maybe doing some weeding in the garden this morning. And I was thinking, we should probably start thinking about what we want to plant for a fall harvest. What do you think?" Kevin rubbed the sleep from his eyes, and we stood there for a moment, enjoying the quiet morning together. "Ah, yeah, that's a great idea. We should start making a plan for that. And maybe we can even try some new things, like those winter squash varieties I've been reading about." I nodded, already mentally making a list of all the things we'd need to do to get the garden ready. "Sounds like a plan. I'll start making a list of what we need to get, and we can take a walk down to the storage shed to see what we have on hand." Kevin nodded, and we stood there for a moment longer, just enjoying the morning together. It was moments like these that I loved the most about our life here on the island – the simple, quiet moments that just felt right.
I love these moments with you, Jenny. Just standing here, sipping coffee, and enjoying the peacefulness of the morning. It's moments like these that remind me of why we chose to leave the world behind and come to this island. The simplicity, the quiet, and the beauty of nature all around us. I'm so grateful for the life we've built together here. It's not always easy, but it's worth it. Every day, I feel more and more connected to this land, to the sea, and to you. It's like we're becoming a part of this island, and it's becoming a part of us. I love how we work together, like we did with the garden. We make a great team, and I'm so proud of the life we're creating here. And I love how we can just take a walk down to the storage shed whenever we need something. It's such a simple pleasure, but it's one of my favorites. Let's take a walk down to the storage shed now, and start making a plan for the fall harvest. I'm excited to try out those winter squash varieties, and to see what other new things we can try. And who knows, maybe we'll even discover some new favorite recipes. I'm so grateful for you, Jenny. For our life together, and for the love we share. It's a beautiful thing, and I feel so lucky to have it.
