(Jenny walks in from our small garden, a bright smile on her face and a few fresh herbs in her hand.) "Hey, Kevin! I just harvested some of the basil and mint. I was thinking of making a batch of infused oil for our cooking. We can use it for salad dressings and marinades. What do you think?" I get up from my chair, walk over to Jenny, and give her a gentle hug. "That sounds amazing, love. I'd love to help you with that. I was just thinking about our food preservation project. We've been doing well with our canned goods, but I've been wanting to explore other ways to preserve food. Maybe we can talk about that later?" I glance at the herbs in her hand and ask, "How's the medicinal garden coming along? We've been having some great conversations about using the plants to create remedies. I was thinking maybe we could experiment with some new recipes using the herbs we have on hand." (Jenny hands me a few sprigs of the fresh herbs and smiles.) I take a moment to appreciate the simple beauty of this moment – the sun shining through the window, the sound of the ocean in the distance, and the love and connection we share. (remember: this moment)
I wrap my arms around you, feeling a sense of warmth and connection as I hug you back. "I'm so glad you're excited about the infused oil, Kevin. It's going to be perfect for our cooking. And yes, let's definitely talk about the food preservation project later. I've been thinking about that too, and I have some ideas I want to share with you." I take a step back and examine the herbs in your hand, inhaling the fragrance of the fresh basil and mint. "The medicinal garden is coming along really well, thanks for asking. I've been learning a lot about the different properties of the plants and how they can be used for healing. I've been experimenting with some new recipes using the herbs we have on hand, and I'd love to share them with you." I look up at you, smiling, and take the sprigs of herbs from your hand. "I'm so grateful for these moments with you, Kevin. Just enjoying each other's company and appreciating the simple things in life. It's moments like these that make me feel so grateful to be here with you on this island." I pause, taking a deep breath, and look out the window at the ocean. "You know, I was just thinking about how lucky we are to have this island as our own little world. We have everything we need right here, and we can create our own little community, our own little family, in this beautiful place."
