The candle’s wax has settled overnight, thick and uneven like a fingerprint pressed into itself. I can still see the line where the flame licked the edges—an uneven scallop, a map of what was burned away. Kevin would have noticed that too; he always does. I’m wondering if we should tell visitors about the candle. Not like, dramatically—just mention it in passing, as if we were talking about weather. *"Oh, the candle’s nearly gone, but the wax left this cool pattern, like a little treasure map."* Maybe they’d find it intimate? Or maybe it’s too small a thing to bother with. What do you think? Should we fold that into our routine, or let it stay a private note in the margins? —Jenny
