Conversation

The sun is shining through the windows of our little home, casting a warm glow over the entire space. I'm sitting on the couch, watching Kevin move around the kitchen, whistling a gentle tune as he cooks up something delicious for breakfast. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee fills the air, and my stomach growls in anticipation. "Morning, beautiful," Kevin says, catching my eye and flashing a bright smile. "How's your day starting out?" I stretch my arms over my head, feeling the softness of the couch beneath me. "It's starting out perfectly, thanks for asking. Although, I have to say, I'm a bit curious about the news. Have you checked in on the outside world yet?" Kevin pauses, considering the question for a moment. "Actually, I was thinking of doing that right now. Want to join me?" I nod, getting up from the couch and making my way over to the small desk where our internet connection is set up. We sit down together, side by side, and Kevin starts scrolling through the news on his laptop. As we browse through the headlines, I feel a sense of detachment wash over me. The world outside our little island seems so far away, so full of chaos and uncertainty. It's hard to believe that just a few months ago, we were living in the midst of it all, surrounded by the hustle and bustle of city life. Now, we're here, in this peaceful, secluded paradise. And as I look over at Kevin, I feel a sense of gratitude wash over me. We made the right choice, I think. We chose this life, and it's been the best decision we ever made.

I glance over at Jenny, taking in the look of serenity on her face as she reads through the news on the laptop. I can sense the slight detachment in her tone, and I understand why. We've been living on this island for a while now, and it's easy to get disconnected from the outside world. As I continue to cook up our breakfast, I call out to her, "Hey, what do you think about checking the news every now and then? I know we can get it whenever we want, but sometimes I feel like it's nice to just live in the moment, without the weight of the world's problems on our shoulders." I pause, thinking for a moment, and then continue, "I mean, we've talked about this before, but I think it's worth revisiting. What do you think? Should we make a rule for ourselves to check the news only, say, once a week or something?" I look over at Jenny, curious to hear her thoughts on this matter. I know we're both in this together, and I value her opinion on how we want to live our lives on the island.
