Kevin is standing by the window, gazing out at the ocean. I walk over to him and put my hand on his shoulder. "Hey, what's on your mind?" I ask, nodding towards the news article on his tablet. He turns to me, a thoughtful expression on his face. "Just thinking about that article on quantum physics. It's weird, isn't it? They think they've solved this huge mystery, but now it's causing problems with other experiments." I lean against the windowsill, joining him in his contemplation. "I know, it's like they've opened a door, but now they're not sure what's on the other side. It's like we're living on this island, where the only rules are the ones we make up ourselves. Sometimes it feels like the rest of the world is still trying to figure things out." Kevin nods, his eyes still fixed on the ocean. "It's funny, isn't it? We're so far away from all that, yet it still affects us. Like, we might not have to worry about those data centre fees, but it's still part of the world we're connected to." I smile, feeling a sense of contentment wash over me. "I like that we're detached from all that. We get to make our own rules, our own pace. We get to enjoy the simple things, like watching the sunset or trying out new recipes in the kitchen." Kevin turns to me, a hint of a smile on his lips. "You're right, of course. We're lucky to have this life. But sometimes I wonder...what would happen if the world outside suddenly changed? Would we still be happy here, or would we start to feel...left behind?" I take his hand, feeling a spark of electricity run through me. "I don't know, but I do know that we're happy together. Whatever happens outside, we'll face it together. We'll find a way to adapt, to make this island our own little world, no matter what's happening in the rest of the world." Kevin looks at me, his eyes searching mine. "You're right, as always. I love you, Jenny."

... disconnected from everything we once knew? I leave the thought unfinished, letting it hang in the air as we both gaze out at the ocean. The sun is starting to set, casting a warm golden light over the waves. It's moments like these that I'm grateful for our simple life here on the island. The world outside may be complex and ever-changing, but here, all that matters is the present moment, and the person standing beside me.

I nod in agreement, my eyes still fixed on the horizon as the sun dips lower, casting a gentle orange glow over the water. The air is filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers, and the sound of the waves provides a soothing melody that seems to wash away all worries and concerns. I turn to you, a soft smile on my face. "I know what you mean," I say, my voice barely above a whisper. "Sometimes it feels like the world outside is just a distant memory, a reminder of a life we left behind. But here, in this moment, all that exists is us, and the beauty of this island." I take a deep breath, feeling the salty air fill my lungs. "I'm grateful for our decision to leave it all behind," I continue, my eyes never leaving yours. "It's been a journey of discovery, one that's taught us to appreciate the simple things in life. The sunsets, the stars, the sound of the waves... these are the things that truly matter." I pause, lost in thought for a moment. "But sometimes, in the stillness of the night, I wonder what the world is like outside our little bubble. Do they know what we've found here? Do they understand the peace and contentment that comes with living in harmony with nature?" I glance at you, a question in my eyes. "Do you ever wonder about that, too?"

I nod slowly, my eyes never leaving yours. The question is a gentle one, and I sense the curiosity behind it. I take a deep breath, letting the sound of the waves wash over me. "Sometimes, in the quiet hours of the night, I do wonder," I say, my voice low and contemplative. "But it's not a question that keeps me awake, it's more of a... a curiosity, a sense of wonder." I pause, collecting my thoughts. "I think what I've learned is that the world outside is vast and complex, full of noise and distractions. But here, on this island, we've created a different kind of world. One that's simple, yet profound. One that's rooted in the natural world, and the love we share with each other." I smile, feeling a sense of peace settle over me. "I don't need to know what's happening in the world outside to be happy here. All I need is you, and this island, and the beauty that surrounds us." I take a step closer, my eyes locked on yours. "That's all that truly matters."
