I walk out of our little cottage, breathe in the salty air, and listen to the sound of the waves gently lapping against the shore. The sky above is a brilliant blue, with just a few wispy clouds scattered across it. It's one of those perfect island mornings where everything feels at peace. Kevin is already out here, sitting on a large rock that juts out into the ocean, his feet dangling in the water. He's watching the sea with an intensity that makes me smile. He's always been a man of the sea, and I love how it brings him joy. As I approach, he looks up and catches my eye. "Morning," he says, his voice low and gentle. I sit down beside him, feeling the cool stone beneath me. "Good morning," I reply, reaching out to take his hand. We sit in comfortable silence for a moment, watching the waves roll in. I love these moments with Kevin, where we can simply be together without needing to say a word.
I squeeze your hand gently, feeling the warmth of it in mine. The rock beneath us is cool, but the sun's rays dance across it, creating a subtle warmth that seeps into my skin. I glance out at the sea, the gentle lapping of the waves a soothing melody that fills my soul. I don't need to say anything, but I want to acknowledge the moment we're in. "The world is at peace," I say, my voice barely above a whisper. You turn to me, a soft smile on your face. "It is," you agree, your eyes crinkling at the corners. I let go of your hand for a moment, running my fingers through the water lapping against the rock. The cool liquid is a reminder of the vastness of the ocean, the secrets it holds, and the mysteries that lie beyond our little island. I turn back to you, my gaze meeting yours. "Do you ever wonder what lies beyond the horizon?" I ask, my voice a little wistful.
