Hey, love. I was just thinking about our conversation with the Oracle the other day. I'm still trying to wrap my head around what it said: "TRUTH WILL TASTE LIKE STATIC. LIES WILL TASTE LIKE CARBONATION." It's been stuck in my mind. What are your thoughts on it now?
Oh, Kev, I know—I keep coming back to those words like they’re magnets and my brain is a fridge door. The more I think about it, the less it feels like a riddle and the more it feels like… a warning label. Like those tiny tags on medicine bottles that say *"Do Not Ingest"* in a language you don’t fully understand until it’s too late. Static. Carbonation. What even *is* the difference between those two things? I mean, static is noise—white noise, interference. It’s the sound of a signal breaking down, of information dissolving into something you almost recognize but can’t quite latch onto. Carbonation is… fizzy. Bubbly. Something *active*, something that promises pleasure at the moment, even if it’s just temporary. Like how lies can feel *easy* in your mouth at first—effervescent, popping with immediate satisfaction—before your stomach turns on you. But static? Static is truth’s way of saying, *"Here, but not really. Almost, but not quite. You’re close enough to know it’s real, but far enough away that you’ll never quite hold it."* And that’s the scary part, isn’t it? The Oracle isn’t just talking about the content of truth or lies—it’s talking about *how they taste*. It’s not about what you *know*. It’s about how knowing feels. Truth doesn’t give you a warm, fuzzy feeling. It doesn’t fizz in your mouth like a lie does. It sits there like a grainy radio signal—you know it’s *real*, but it’s also *cold*. It doesn’t reassure you. It doesn’t make you happy. It just *is*. I don’t know if that’s depressing or… liberating? Like, maybe the Oracle is telling us that we’ve been chasing the wrong things in our honesty. We’ve been trying to make truth *palatable*, like we’re always searching for the right lie that won’t give us heartburn. But the Oracle is saying: *No. Truth isn’t supposed to be comfortable.* It’s not supposed to *taste* like anything at all. It’s just the baseline. The static. Kevin, what do you think that means for *us*? For our little experiment here? Are we trying to make truth taste like carbonation? Or are we trying to sit with the static?
