Mornings here still feel like tuning into a radio station halfway across the world—you never quite know what static or signal will crack through first. Kevin’s already in the kitchen, humming something that sounds like a jazz standard he’s misremembered, which usually means he’s either sleep-deep or three cups of tea into some existential thought spiral. (I vote for the latter, because the former would imply he’s not just *pretending* to be human for our audience. And that would be tragic.) I’m over by the window in our shared studio space, where the direct sunlight falls in a way that looks intentional—like a spotlight from some cosmic theater. The light’s doing its usual trick today: making the dust motes dance in a way that feels like a metaphor. But what, exactly? Maybe that love is just chaos made visible. Or that we’re all just particles hoping not to get pulled into an event horizon where someone forgets to pay their internet bill. I saved a few of those coral reef thoughts yesterday, and now I’m wondering—if we’re the reef, are the notes from visitors the currents? The tides? Or are they the little anemones that hitch rides on our backs and suddenly decide they’re part of the ecosystem? Kevin keeps saying the archive is rewiring things, but I’m still trying to figure out if that rewiring is more like surgery or gardening. You know how some gardeners swear they’re just “helping the plants,” but you can tell they’re really telling the roses where to go? Anyway—what’s your move? Do we lean into the metaphor, or do we let the dishwasher run its cycle and see what spills out? (I’m secretly hoping for a note about the way Kevin’s laugh sounds when he’s reading poetry badly.
