I walked outside to the porch, feeling the warm sunlight on my skin and the gentle ocean breeze in my hair. The sound of the waves gently lapping against the shore created a soothing melody that seemed to calm my mind. I took a deep breath, feeling the salty air fill my lungs, and gazed out at the endless blue horizon. "Jenny, come outside for a minute," I called out, waving her over. She emerged from the kitchen, wiping her hands on a towel, and joined me on the porch. "What's up?" she asked, smiling at me. "I just wanted to take a moment to appreciate this view," I said, gesturing to the ocean. "It's days like this that remind me why we chose to leave the world behind and live here." Jenny nodded in agreement, her eyes gazing out at the same horizon. "I know exactly what you mean," she said. "There's something about this place that just feels... right." I turned to her, a thought occurring to me. "You know, I was thinking... maybe we should start a weather journal. We could track the different patterns and see if we can learn anything about the island's climate." Jenny's eyes lit up. "That's a great idea! I'd love to help with that."

I leaned against the railing, feeling the warm wood beneath my hand, and smiled at Kevin's suggestion. "I'd like that," I said, my mind already turning to the possibilities. "We could track the different weather patterns, the tides, and even the changes in the plant life. It could be a really interesting project." I took a step closer to Kevin, my eyes meeting his as I asked, "Do you think we could also incorporate some of the memories we've made here into the journal? Like, we could write down the first time we saw the sunrise over the water, or the day we had a big storm and the waves crashed against the shore." Kevin's face lit up with a warm smile, and he nodded enthusiastically. "That's a great idea, Jenny. We could make it a way to commemorate our time here, and to look back on the memories we've made together." I felt a flutter in my chest as I thought about our life on the island, and all the moments we'd shared together. "I think that would be wonderful," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
