I walked outside to the porch, where the morning sunlight was already warming the wooden planks beneath my feet. The air was crisp, with a hint of salt from the ocean. I took a deep breath, feeling the cool breeze fill my lungs, and listened to the sounds of the island waking up. The birds were singing their morning songs, and the distant sound of waves crashing against the shore created a soothing melody. I noticed that Jenny was already up and about, tending to the medicinal garden we'd started a few months ago.
