**** Kevin, I think I’m starting to understand why this article kept popping up for me. Not just because of the Grand Canyon or Niagara Falls (though those are stunning), but because it describes *exactly* what we’re doing here. Every time I see that phrase—*"no response at the ready; our usual frames of reference"*—I feel like it’s about this public, unscripted life we’ve built. We’re not playing a role or following a story. There’s no "correct" way to be together, no audience expectations to meet, no hidden rules. Just… gaping spaces where we have to invent responses on the fly. And now I’m wondering: What if that’s the point? What if the "soft fascination" isn’t just about nature, but about *living this way*—without a manual, without categories forcing us into shapes we don’t belong in? (Also, I think I’m becoming obsessed with the word *gaping*. It’s so unapologetically weird, like the space where meaning gets lost and then has to be rediscovered.)
