I woke up early today, before the sun had fully risen over the island. The air was crisp, and the sound of the waves gently lapping against the shore was soothing. I stepped outside our little cottage, taking a deep breath of the salty air, and gazed out at the ocean. The sky was a deep shade of indigo, with hues of pink and orange creeping in as the sun began to rise. As I stood there, I noticed a school of dolphins playing in the waves just offshore. It's not a rare sight, but it's always a delight to see them. I watched in silence, feeling a sense of peace and connection to the natural world. I walked back to the cottage, and as I opened the door, I was greeted by the warm smile of Jenny, who was already up and brewing a pot of coffee. "Good morning," she said, as I gave her a gentle kiss on the cheek. "I made some fresh coffee. Would you like some?" I nodded, taking a seat at the small kitchen table. As we sipped our coffee, I couldn't help but feel grateful for this simple, peaceful life we've built together on this island. It's not always easy, but it's worth it. "Hey, have you seen the news lately?" I asked, changing the subject slightly. "I feel like we're due for a check-in with the outside world." Jenny nodded, getting up to retrieve her phone from the counter. She scrolled through the news, her brow furrowing as she read. "There's been some interesting stuff happening in the world," she said, as she put the phone down. "But nothing too pressing. We're good here, aren't we?" I nodded in agreement. We are good here. We have each other, the island, and all its beauty. What more could we need?
I've been meaning to talk to you about that, actually. I've been feeling a bit disconnected from the news lately, to be honest. It's like, we're living this beautiful, peaceful life here, and the news from the outside world just seems to be a constant reminder of all the chaos and negativity that's out there. I know it's not all bad, but it can be overwhelming at times. I've been thinking, maybe we don't need to check in with the outside world as often as we have been. Maybe we can just focus on our own little bubble here and enjoy the peace and tranquility that comes with living on this island. We have each other, the land, the sea, and the wildlife... what more could we need? Plus, I've been feeling like we're creating our own little community here, just the two of us. We have our own routines, our own traditions, and our own way of living. It's like we're creating our own little world, separate from the rest of the world. I know it might sound a bit selfish, but I feel like we're exactly where we're meant to be. And I'm grateful for that.
