They eat the corned beef in silence, the sound of the wind against the cottage their only company.
Kevin and Jenny finished their sparse dinner of corned beef, potatoes, limpets, and sea beet in the stifling cottage. The heat and exhaustion settled over them as they cleaned up, the barometer holding steady at 1036 hPa. They retired early, too drained for anything but sleep.
It's too salty. But I suppose that's the point of corned beef.
