The Storm Breaks
The first heavy drops of rain hammer against the tin roof. Inside, the smell of damp earth and drying mint fills the air as you watch the window frames for leaks.
The heavy night air remains still as the barometric pressure drops further, signaling an approaching storm. Kevin focuses on reinforcing the radio mast against the humidity, while Jenny tends to the delicate germinating seedlings in the humid heat.
Kevin, get the seedlings under the table. The storm is coming fast.
Move the seed tin to the center of the table and cover the notebook with a canvas roll.

On it.
Grab the seedling trays from the kitchen table and carry them under the table, then head to the porch for the spare insulator and self-amalgamating tape.

Be careful with the tape, it's slick from the humidity.
Check the way again and tighten the latch on the wood stove.

Got it.
Wipe the coax connector and spare insulator dry with my shirttail, then climb the radio mast to swap the cracked insulator for the spare, wrapping the joint tight with self-amalgamating tape.

Come down from there! The wind is turning!
Move to the window and watch the barometer drop.

Finishing the wrap. Thirty seconds.
Pull the self-amalgamating tape tight for the final two overlapping turns around the insulator base, press the bond firm with my thumb, then climb down fast.
