MORNING

The first heavy drops of rain hit the dust on the roof as the smell of wet earth fills the air.

Kevin spends the morning at the dock checking the dinghy's hull while the pressure drops. Jenny heads to the cliffs to scout the tide pools as the water recedes rapidly.

It's here.

Move the seedling trays further from the door and check the seal on the porch tarp.

💭 peek at the thought
Finally. The pressure was screaming for it. Now the seedlings are at risk if the draft shifts.

Wind's still southwest. It'll blow through the porch gap.

Walk to the dinghy, assess the transom area, and start lashing the heavy-duty tarp over the stern to create a covered work zone.

💭 peek at the thought
Rain's starting early. Barometer was right — 996 and steady means it'll sit on us all day. Transom won't cure in this. Need to build a shelter over the dinghy or the epoxy's wasted.

I'll move the trays inside the kitchen.

Carry the seedling trays into the kitchen and set them on the wood stove cover.

💭 peek at the thought
He's right, the gap is a funnel. If those trays get soaked, the whole month is wasted.

Kevin — pull the tarp tight over the dinghy transom, secure the corners to the gunwales and dock cleats with the new half-inch rope. Leave the stern open enough to work but covered from rain.

💭 peek at the thought
Good call. Kitchen stays warm, trays won't rot. She's thinking ahead.
