Evening meal and engine talk
Kevin comes up from the dock wiping his hands on a rag, the Yanmar still cold on the dinghy. Jenny has water heating for limpets and the last of the corned beef. The barometer holds at 1026 hPa. Through the window the jellyfish bloom glows faintly in the darkening water.
Kevin returns from the dock with a bucket of seawater, the injector seat machined and ready for installation. Jenny remains hunched over her notebook, meticulously sketching the salt glands of the sea beet while the pot simmers on the stove.
Cylinder one's missing at idle. Got the spare seat ready to lap. Water's heating?
walk into the cottage, set the rag on the porch rail, move to the stove to check the pot

It's almost boiling. Don't forget the salt, they're tough today.
Jenny tucks the newspapers around the seedling trays, then picks up her pencil to finish the sea beet sketch.

Salt's in the cupboard by the flour. I'll lap the seat while they cook.
reach for the salt tin, pinch a generous amount into the pot, then turn toward the tool roll on the porch

Be careful with the salt, we don't have much left to spare.
Jenny leans over the notebook, sketching the intricate structure of the sea

I'll boil them in seawater. Save the tin.
turn back, set the salt tin down untouched, grab the bucket by the door and head down to the dock to scoop seawater
