The Morning Calm
Kevin sits at the kitchen table finishing the letter to Tom while the sun streams through the window. Jenny prepares the feeding for the chick in the box, checking the towel for warmth. The air inside is dry and warm.
The morning begins clear and warm as the dry season holds for another day. Kevin tends to the seabird chick in the cottage while Jenny checks the garden and prepares for the supply boat's arrival in six days.
He's growing fast this morning.
