The humidity remains heavy over the island as the tide reaches its peak. You return to the cottage with the findings from the dock to plan the day's labor.

Kevin attempted to lash the spruce spar step but the epoxy remained tacky and the split would not hold; he set the work aside. Jenny spread the damp seed packets on paper towels in the kitchen and began sketching sea beet morphology, noting the leaf margins and salt glands.
