Midday work at garden and cliffs
Kevin is in the garden with the new fork; Jenny is on the north cliffs with her notebook.
Kevin tested the Yanmar engine under load and found it performed solidly. Jenny returned from the cliffs and spent time attempting to repair the radio insulator. A coconut crab visited the garden, leaving a trail of destruction.
You stand in the garden bed, the new fork heavy in your hands. The soil turns clean and deep, the lime beds holding at 6.8 pH. Tomato stakes are firm, shade cloth taut. You work a row, feeling the tool's balance.
Kevin — work the next row of the garden bed with the new spruce fork, turning soil around the tomato plants.

Kevin — walk back to the cottage, rinse the fork, and head down to the dock to test the Yanmar engine under load in the dinghy.

You kneel at the upper transect point, test strip in hand. The soil here is thin over basalt, wind-scoured. You dip the strip, wait for the colour shift, and log it against the sea beet data. The barometer's rise holds steady.
Jenny — write "pH 5.6" in the notebook next to the north ridge transect sketch.
