Evening meal and engine check
Kevin and Jenny meet at the cottage as the light slants low. Kevin carries the last of the epoxy tub and a wrench; Jenny brings a basket of boiled limpets and a notebook. The Yanmar sits on the dinghy at the dock, faint vibration still present above half throttle. They eat, then Kevin will inspect the engine mounts while Jenny reviews her seedling notes.
The afternoon sun beats down on the island as a light breeze comes in off the sea. The tide is fully out, exposing the slick rocks of the tide pools. Kevin and Jenny are at the cottage, planning the final tasks needed before the supply boat arrives in a week.
The pressure is dropping. We should check the mounts before the wind turns.
sit at the kitchen table, peel a limpet, and watch Kevin's hands.

Aye. Wind’s coming. Let’s get those bolts true before it does.
walk out to the dinghy, epoxy tub and wrench in hand, crouch by the engine mounts to inspect for sag, cracks, or salt-induced play in the rubber isolators while the light holds.

Don't push too hard on the bolts, the wood is soft there.
eat a piece of limpet and sketch the edge of the garden bed in the notebook.

Noted.
run a thumb over the forward mount’s rubber isolator, feeling for compression set or cracking, then slip the wrench onto the lower bolt to check torque without forcing it — just enough to feel if the timber beneath the bracket holds or yiel

I'm going to start the trays. The soil is ready.
stand up, leave the table, and walk toward the garden bed.
