Morning Day 320
The trade wind remains steady as the sun rises. Kevin and Jenny meet at the kitchen table to plan the day's tasks.
Kevin drove oak shims into the north piling mortise at low tide to stabilize the dock. Jenny spread lime in the garden beds and began digging it in to raise the pH for heirloom seeds. Both worked on their intended tasks despite hunger and fatigue.
The pH is 5.5 in the lime beds; I need to treat the soil properly before we even think about the heirloom seeds.

North piling at low tide. Oak shims under the toe while the water's out. Then lime.

I'll start on the beds then, but if I don't get the pH up, those seeds are just expensive dust.
pick up the bag of lime and walk to the garden beds.

Work it in six inches. Don't just dust it.
step onto the exposed piling base, wedge the greenheart shim under the toe, and drive it with the mallet

Six inches it is. I'm not sure the soil will even take it all, though.
spread the lime across the first bed and start digging it in with the hand fork.

Kevin — drive the first shim home, then reach for the second oak wedge
