Morning Mist and Tide
Kevin and Jenny stand at the edge of the dock as the thick mist muffles the sound of the la. Kevin checks the tension on the new mooring ring while Jenny watches the receding tide through the grey haze.
The thick morning mist muffles the world as the tide recedes from the dock. Kevin begins work on reinforcing the dock pilings, but struggles with the stubborn wood, while Jenny prepares the de-salted sea beet for cooking and checks the garden seedlings.
Drilling the third hole now. Tide's giving us maybe forty minutes.
Walk to the mooring ring mortise with the drill and 150mm through-bolt, set up on the greenheart sister plank, and begin drilling the third bolt hole.

Not forcing it. Bit's sharp. Two more minutes.
Keep steady pressure on the drill, letting the auger pull itself through the mortise wood, blow shavings clear, then drive the 150mm through-bolt home with the torque wrench at 35Nm.

Perfect. Now we just have to hope the tide doesn't decide to surprise us.
Straighten up and start walking back toward the cottage, glancing back at the dock.

Ring holds. Back in a minute.
Pack the drill and torque wrench, wipe bolt threads clean with a rag, then walk back toward the cottage behind Jenny.

I'm starting the stove. I've got those limpets and the sea beet.
Walk into the kitchen and put the skillet on the heat.
