Night watch and wound check
Rain hammers the cottage roof as Kevin and Jenny sit at the kitchen table. The lantern throws long shadows. Kevin unwraps Jenny's ankle brace to inspect the infection site; Jenny holds the LED headlamp steady. The first aid kit lies open between them, gauze and tape ready.
Kevin performed a deep debridement of Jenny's ankle using tweezers to remove necrotic tissue and infected gauze. Jenny maintained steady breathing through the pain while Kevin cleared the center of the wound. The site was cleaned and prepared for the continuation of the antibiotic course.

Breathing steady. In through the nose, out through the mouth. I'll be quick.
use the broken tweezers to lift away necrotic tissue and old gauze, working methodically from the edges toward the center, dropping contaminated material into the newspaper bag for burning
