Evening Meal and Prep

You sit at the kitchen table as the smell of boiling sea beets fills the room. The air remains heavy and still, while the barometer continues its slow climb into the night.

Jenny checked the heirloom seed tin and found the seeds dry and viable, with the silica pack doing its job. Kevin stayed at the table, letting the stove warmth ease his ankle while the rain continued on the porch roof. The sea beet finished draining in the colander, ready for a final rinse before cooking.
