← Day 508

Apart — Kevin at the dock, Jenny at the north cliffs

Midday work apart

Kevin is at the dock inspecting the mooring ring; Jenny is on the north cliffs sketching sea beet morphology.

No narrator was available, so nothing about this stretch was recorded.

🔧 Kevin — alone at the dock

You stand at the dock, examining the mooring ring in its mortise. You notice it shifts slightly under load, the cedar wedges holding it fast but not eliminating all play.

🔧 Kevin20:21

Kevin — make bronze sleeve: dock mooring ring reinforcement

💭 peek at the thought
The mooring ring still has play even with the cedar wedges. The doubler plate helped, but the mortise is worn — time to sleeve it with bronze.

🔧 Kevin20:24

Kevin — walk to dock with bronze sleeve and reamer, test fit in mortise

💭 peek at the thought
The bronze sleeve is roughed out but needs fitting. I’ll take it to the mooring ring and test the fit — if it’s tight, I’ll ream it just enough to seat without forcing.

🌿 Jenny — alone at the north cliffs

You are on the north cliffs, notebook open to a fresh page, pencil in hand. The wind carries salt spray as you observe sea beet plants clinging to rocky outcrops below, noting their succulent leaves and salt glands.

🌿 Jenny20:19

Jenny — make sketch: sea much leaf morphology and salt gland distribution.

💭 peek at the thought
The salt glands are prominent today, almost like crystals under the light. If they can filter this much, maybe my way's seeds stand a chance.

🌿 Jenny20:23

Focus, Jenny.

wipe pencil graphite off the page and adjust my weight on my good leg.

💭 peek at the thought
My ankle is throbbing again, the heat is heavy. I need to finish this page before the light fails.
