The Rising Tide

Kevin and Jenny meet at the dock as the humidity reaches its peak. The grey sky darkens slightly, and the air smells of ozone.

Kevin carried the seed trays inside while Jenny brought the sea beet leaves to dry by the stove. Both moved slowly, weakened by hunger, and the thickening cloud cover pressed the barometer higher.
