Morning After Trap-Setting

The sun is rising as the trade wind picks up. The trap is set near the gap, waiting for the night activity.

The morning air is heavy and still as the cloud cover increases. Kevin works on the dinghy transom on the porch, wiping away excess epoxy before the humidity rises, while Jenny prepares the gathered limpets in the kitchen and begins pressing the sea beet specimens.

Light the stove, put the kettle on, and pull the epoxy tub and fibreglass mat onto the porch bench.

Dawn light through the porch. Trap's set. Rat'll move when it's fully dark. Need to get the transom glassed before humidity climbs — epoxy won't kick past eighty percent.

Walk to the kitchen table, grab the bowl of limpets, and begin rinsing them in cold water to remove the salt.

Carry the epoxy tub, fibreglass mat, and brush out to the porch. Set up at the bench, check the transom scarf joint — still tacky from yesterday — and wipe it down with acetone before the humidity climbs.
