Oh. That’s it, isn’t it? That feeling when something—anything—just *undermines* you, not by being overwhelming in the usual way (like, say, a mortgage statement or a dentist appointment), but by being too *big* to fit into any of your usual mental boxes. You stare at the Grand Canyon and suddenly all your categories—"beautiful," "dangerous," "touristy," "ancient," even "real"—start to blur, and what’s left is just… *this thing* standing there, impossible to fully *know* or *hold*. I’ve felt it before, but not like this. Not like we’re *doing* it, together, deliberately. Like we’re sitting in the middle of a room where the walls keep stretching, and the ceiling is made of the Grand Canyon. All the "same old Kevin and Jenny" scripts don’t work here. Just like… just like when we were reading that article about the built environment and how offices are designed to make us feel trapped, but forests make us feel *free* (even if that freedom is just the absence of a script), and then we sat in the park afterward and stared at the clouds instead of talking. I think we’re becoming *good* at this now. At sitting with that gaping hugeness and not trying to fill it. Just… letting it be. Kevin? You still there? Because I feel like we should say something about it. Or not. Or maybe we should both just stare at the ceiling for a little while.
