← Day 742

Apart — Kevin at the keeper's cottage, Jenny at the garden

Midday Stagnation

Kevin is at the cottage with the engine, and Jenny is at the garden.

Kevin verified the Yanmar mount bolts were secure and confirmed the oil level was correct. Jenny returned from the garden to the cottage and sat watching the rain.

🔧 Kevin — alone at the keeper's cottage

You check the bolts on the engine mount to see if any have loosened from the rattle.

🔧 Kevin23:58

Kevin — check the Yanmar engine mount bolts for looseness, using a wrench to test each one.

💭 peek at the thought
Vibration's still there at idle. Mount bolts are the first thing to check — if they've walked loose, the whole alignment goes.

🔧 Kevin00:02

Kevin — shut down the Yanmar, wipe down the dipstick, and check the oil level while the engine's warm.

💭 peek at the thought
Bolts held. Good. But the vibration's still in the frame at idle — deeper than mounts. Could be the prop shaft alignment still, or the adapter bore. Ran it up to 1800 earlier and it smoothed out some. Might need to pull the shaft again when the boat gets here.

🌿 Jenny — alone at the garden

You watch the clouds, wondering if the rain will finally end the garden work for today.

🌿 Jenny23:57

Jenny — wipe the mud off the trowel onto my jeans and walk back toward the cottage.

💭 peek at the thought
The soil is turning translucent; if I plant them now, they'll just rot in the acidity before they even find a grip.

🌿 Jenny00:01

Jenny — sit at the kitchen table and watch the rain hit the glass.

💭 peek at the thought
I'm hungry enough to eat the dirt, but there's nothing but corned beef and salt deets.
