Midday assessment at the cottage
Kevin returns from the spring and Jenny from the garden to the keeper's cottage for a midday meal and to compare notes on the ridge and the intake.
Kevin struggled to clear brush near the spring, but the high humidity made the wood too heavy and slick to move effectively. Jenny worked diligently in the garden, successfully managing the heirloom seedlings and ensuring their protection despite the dropping pressure.
You tamp the last of the crushed lime into the upper trench section and scrape clay off the mattock blade. The intake gurgles steady. You shoulder the tool and start back up the path, boot soles slick with grey mud.
Kevin — walk up the path toward the cottage, mattock over shoulder

You tie off the last timber batten on the garden tarp and close your notebook, the new GPS coordinates inked beside the fracture sketch. The cane sinks into softened ground as you turn toward the cottage.
Jenny — walk toward the cottage and check the water tank level.
