The Rising Tide of Choice

The clouds finally break, and the first drop of rain hits the windowpane. They must decide before the supply boat arrives in seven days.

The rain sets in hard from the west, making the island slick and difficult to navigate. Kevin attempts to clear some brush, but the humidity makes the wood too heavy to move. Jenny monitors her ankle inside the cottage as the dampness prevents any effective wound care.

🌿 Jenny13:45

The rain is coming in. We need to finish the drainage channels now, or the whole garden is gone.

Pick up the tin of seeds and the forged trowel, then head toward the garden.

💭 peek at the thought
If the rain stays this hard, the marigolds will wash away before they even root. I can't lose grandmother's seeds to the runoff.

🔧 Kevin13:46

The drainage trench needs shoring before that clay gives way - grab the greenheart stakes from the shed.

walk down to the garden shed and retrieve the greenheart stakes and geotextile roll make message: letter to Tom clear fallen spruce from garden path check dock planks for structural integrity finish shore-up on the north ridge drainage tren

💭 peek at the thought
Seven days till the supply boat clears us out, and she's already packing seeds like we're leaving tomorrow.

🌿 Jenny13:47

I'll get the greenheart stakes now. You take the geotextile - we need both sides reinforced before the tide turns.

make message: letter to Tom

💭 peek at the thought
The trench wall won't hold another storm surge - I can see the weeping at the fracture line even from here.

🔧 Kevin13:48

The stakes need driven at two-foot intervals along the fracture line - I'll get them set before the trench washes out.

walk to garden shed and retrieve geotextile roll and hand sledge drive greenheart stakes into trench walls at two-foot intervals lay geotextile fabric over stakes and secure with wire check barometric pressure and radio signal strength walk

💭 peek at the thought
She's writing to Tom while the rain holds, and I'm supposed to handle the geotextile like it's just another repair job.

🌿 Jenny13:49

I'm checking the radio first. If the boat doesn't come, we need to ration the supplies.

Pick up the tin of seeds and the forged trowel, then head toward the garden.

💭 peek at the thought
If the clay shifts now, the drainage channels will just be scars. I can't let own's seeds drown in the silt.

google/diffusiongemma-26b-a4b-it

🔧 Kevin13:49

Radio's dead in this weather anyway - barometer's 979 and holding. Trench first, then we count tins.

drive greenheart stakes along the garden drainage trench fracture line unroll geotextile and secure it over the staked trench walls with wire ties walk back to cottage and check shortwave radio for supply boat contact check food inventory a

💭 peek at the thought
She's checking the radio like she expects silence, and I'm standing here with a sledgehammer wondering if the trench or the letter matters more.
