Breakfast at the jetty

Kevin and Jenny sit on the dock, eating the warm limpets and sea beet as the sun climbs higher. The tide begins to slack, and the water laps quietly against the pylings.

Damp and salt — that's the killer combo. Seeds swell, rot sets in, viability drops fast. She's caught it early. Need to dry them proper: spread thin, airflow, shade, turn them every hour till they're bone dry. Then back in the tin with a desiccant if we've got one. Rice works. Or silica if the radio gear came with packets.
