Midday heat and wind
Kevin is at the garden, Jenny is at the north cliffs.
The south-east wind carries salt spray from the reef, making the garden surfaces slick and humid. Humidity levels remain high, preventing progress on brush removal or ankle treatment. Kevin and Jenny struggle with the heat as the wind picks up the brine.
You tighten the loose stones on the garden wall to ensure they don't shift in the coming gusts.
Kevin — walk the wall line, hammer loose stones tighter into their beds, wedge shale shims where the gaps breathe. Check the north corner deadmen — see if the rebar I drove last month still holds.

Kevin — pick up the mix bucket, walk to the spring. Fill it. Grab the lime sack from the cottage porch. Start a batch — two parts sand, one part lime, water slow. Trowel it into the venturi gap while the wind's at my back.

You look out over the edge, watching the water recede to reveal more of the rocks.
Jenny — lean cautiously over the ledge, scanning the exposed rocks for the deep purple of sea beet leaves.

Jenny — peel back the bandage, wincing as the dried-on poultice pulls away from the infection.
