The Supply Boat Morning

The tide begins to turn as the first light of the supply boat appears on the eastern line.

Kevin attempts to prep the dinghy for the supply boat search but fumbles with the replacement impeller, dropping it into the salt water of the dock just as the tide begins to rise. Meanwhile, Jenny meticulously organizes the ditch bag and successfully treats her ankle with a fresh poultice, finding some momentary relief as she waits for the departure.

Boat's showing. High tide slack in forty. You want the radio or the dinghy?

Walk up the dock to the cottage, grab the spare impeller from the workbench and the VHF, then head back down to prep the dinghy for the run out.

💭 peek at the thought
There she is. Right on the tide. High water slack in forty minutes — that's our window. Need to get the dinghy ready and the impeller installed before the wind picks up.

I'll take the radio. Get the engine warm.

walk back to the cottage to grab the ditch bag.

💭 peek at the thought
Finally. I can't stand another day of this stagnant air. I need to get that ditch bag ready and make sure the seeds are secure.

Got it. Back in twenty.

Untie the dinghy bow and stern lines, step aboard, prime the Yanmar fuel line, hit the starter and let it warm at idle while checking the tell-tale stream.

💭 peek at the thought
Good. She's got the ditch bag — medevac forms, letter to Tom, spare impeller, notebook, seed tin E. Everything we'd need if this goes sideways. I'll get the Yanmar turning over clean.

Jenny — check the ditch bag one last time and carry it out to the porch.

💭 peek at the thought
He's so focused on the machine. I hope the impeller is actually on board this time; I can't deal with another failure.
