The Approaching Front

Kevin and Jenny stand over the kitchen table as the barometer needle drops toward 974 hPa. The smell of damp wood and salt fills the room while the wind begins to rattle the window panes.

Kevin heads to the dock with the new rope, but finds the salt-crusted stern line is already fraying rapidly under the tension. Jenny stays in the kitchen, stripping the exhaust manifold on the generator to inspect the gasket for the vibration that has been worrying her.
