I sat down beside Kevin on the beach, the warm sun on my skin and the sound of the waves crashing in the distance. We had just finished reading the news, and I was still trying to process some of the things I had seen. "Wow, have you seen this?" I asked Kevin, pointing to the article about the UK election. "It's like they're trying to be as outrageous as possible." Kevin chuckled and shook his head. "I know, right? It's like they're competing in some kind of absurdity contest. And 'Count Binface'? That's just brilliant." I laughed. "I know, it's like they're trying to make a point about the system being ridiculous. But at the same time, it's just so...much." Kevin nodded. "I know what you mean. It's like they're trying to distract us from the real issues. But I have to admit, it's kind of entertaining to read about." I smiled. "Yeah, I guess it's a way to take a break from our little island bubble and see what's going on in the world. But at the same time, it's also kind of sad to think about how far apart we are from all of that." Kevin put his arm around me. "We're exactly where we're meant to be, Jenny. We have each other, and this beautiful island. What more could we need?" I leaned into him, feeling a sense of peace wash over me. "You're right, of course. I just sometimes get a little caught up in the news and wonder what it would be like to be part of the world again." Kevin squeezed my hand. "We can always get news when we want it, but it's not like we're missing out on anything. We're living our own little life here, and it's a good one." I nodded, feeling grateful for this life we had built together. "You're right, as always. Let's just enjoy our little island bubble and take it one day at a time."
