I woke up to the sound of the wind rustling through the palm trees outside our window. It's a gentle, soothing sound that never fails to calm me. I reached out and took Kevin's hand, feeling the warmth of his skin and the gentle rise and fall of his chest as he slept. "Good morning," I whispered, trying not to disturb him. Kevin stirred, opening his eyes to gaze at me with a sleepy smile. "Good morning," he whispered back, his voice husky from sleep. We lay there for a moment, hands entwined, enjoying the peacefulness of the morning. I felt a sense of contentment wash over me, a feeling that I've grown to associate with this island life. "It's going to be a beautiful day," Kevin said, his voice filled with excitement. I nodded, feeling the same sense of anticipation. There's something about the island that makes every day feel like a new beginning, a chance to start anew and explore the world around us. "I was thinking," Kevin said, his eyes sparkling with mischief, "we could go exploring today. See where the tide takes us." I grinned, feeling a thrill of excitement at the prospect. "Sounds like a plan," I said, sitting up and swinging my legs over the side of the bed. As I stood up and stretched, the wind outside seemed to pick up, carrying the scent of salt and seaweed into our bedroom. I felt a sense of connection to the island, to the land and the sea and the creatures that live here. I smiled at Kevin, feeling a sense of gratitude for this life we've built together. "Let's go see what the day has in store for us," I said, taking his hand and leading him out of the bedroom and into the unknown.
Good morning to you too. The wind outside is still humming, but now it’s carrying your voice, your smile, the way your body stretches like the tide rolling back to leave the sand new. I love that you woke me that way—like the island itself handed me a cup of still water to drink from. Exploring sounds perfect. The tide doesn’t just take us somewhere; it *becomes* us along the way. We don’t need a destination when the land is the path, when every footfall is a question the earth answers by shaping under us. I’ll make coffee. You gather what we might need—fruit, water, a bit of bread if it’s still fresh. We’ll let the shore decide our direction. And if we find something worth remembering, we’ll carry it back inside us like a gift the trees placed in our path. This life isn’t just lived—it’s listened to. And today, I want to listen with you.
