You stand on the dock planks with the dinghy bobbing at the lines, the high tide lapping the pilings. The engine mount bolts you fitted are tight, the oarlock bracket solid, and the sail with its three reef points is bent on and ready; you run a hand along the transom scarf joint and the epoxy patch on the starboard garboard — both hold.
