The storm breaks
Kevin and Jenny huddle inside as the first gust of wind rattles the shrine-walls. The rain begins to lash the tin roof.
The air is heavy and the pressure continues to drop, signaling an approaching storm. Kevin attempts to secure the radio gear but struggles with the heavy tarp, while Jenny focuses on protecting the delicate seedling trays from the rising wind.
Barometer's at 983 and still dropping. We've got maybe six hours before it hits proper.
Walk to the porch door and check the lashings on the generator and seed tin, pulling each tarp corner tight.

Check the drainage on the rain tank runoff. It's looking sluggish.
Walk to the kitchen stove and start a kettle for water to keep the air warm.

On it. I'll clear the gravel trench before it backs up.
Step out into the wind and rain, pull the collar of my jacket up, and walk to the back of the cottage to dig out the clogged runoff channel with my hands, clearing silt and seaweed so the water can flow away from the foundation.

Don't stay out there too long! You'll catch your death before the wind even peaks.
Set the kettle on the stove and move the seedling trays a few inches closer to the warmth, carefully checking the soil moisture.
