Morning Tide Rises
Kevin and Jenny stand by the dock as the water reaches the edge of the wood, the heavy crate bobbles against the swell.
Kevin and Jenny heaved the waterlogged crate from the dock pilings onto the gravel beach just as a swell lifted it clear. The crate sits intact on the shore, its contents still sealed inside.
We need to get that crate clear of the pilings — now. Help me shove it toward the beach before the next swell lifts it sideways.
Grab the crowbar and wedge it under the crate's edge, bracing my feet against the wet planks, ready to lever it free and push it toward shore as the water rises.

I've got it! Just give me a second to get a grip.
Step forward and press my shoulder against the side of the waterlogged crate, pushing hard toward the beach.

Good. On three. One — two — three — push!
Shove with my shoulder alongside her, driving the crate toward the beach, boots sliding on the slick timber, using the crowbar as a brake against the piling to keep it from sliding back.

(grunts with effort) Almost... there!
Lean my full weight into the crate, digging my heels into the wet planks to help drive it toward the shore.

Hold it — just a bit more. Feel it? It's on the gravel now.
Keep driving forward with Jenny, using my body to square the crate against the shore, then plant my feet and brace as the next swell lifts beneath us, letting the water carry the crate the last few feet clear of the dock.

(heaving breath) It's done. It's on the wood.
Wipe the salt and sweat from my eyes, watching the water recede from the pilings.
