The Midday Meal
Kevin is at the dock and Jenny is at the keeper's cottage.
The rain has moved in from the west, turning the air into a heavy, humid weight. The tide is out out, exposing the slick rocks of the tide pools and the muddy sand around the dock. Kevin is at the dock, while Jenny remains at the cottage seeking shelter from the sudden downpour.
You stand by the dinghy, listening to the engine cool. The tide has fallen, leaving a wide strip of grey shale exposed.
Kevin — walk to the cottage porch, grab the sealed letter to Tom from the table, then head to the workshop to get the spark plug ceramic, epoxy, and file. I’ll finish the insulator repair first — it’s the only voice we might get before the storm.

Kevin — sit at the kitchen table, pull out the letter, add Jenny’s name beneath mine, seal the envelope with wax from the candle stub, then walk to the supply bag by the door and tuck it in deep where the rain won't reach.

You stand over the wood stove, the smell of boiling limpets filling the kitchen. The rain continues to drum steadily on the roof.
Jenny — stir the limpets with a spoon and check the heat on the stove.

Jenny — drain the water and plate the limpets, sitting at the small table.
