The Midday Rain
Kevin is at the dock and Jenny is at the tide pools.
Kevin secures the dinghy's mooring lines as the high tide laps against the dock. Jenny heads to the tide pools to look for forage, noting the thickening clouds as the humidity sets in.
You stand over the engine, staring at the snapped cord. The rain is drumming hard against your shoulders.
Shite.
Crouch under the dinghy's partial shelter, pull the starter housing bolts with the socket set, inspect the recoil spring and sheave.

Kevin — pick the salt out of the rope fibers with the knife tip, work a clean tail, splice it to the old remnant, thread through the sheave and tie a tight figure-eight. Wind the spring, test the catch.

You close your sketchbook, keeping the pages dry under your coat. The tide has now completely reclaimed the lower shelf.
Jenny — walk back toward the cottage, keeping a sharp eye on the waterline.

Jenny — walk into the kitchen and check the pantry for something quick to eat.
