The Salt Crate

The tide is at its lowest point, exposing the sand and the nearby rocks. The waterlogged crate sits heavy on the gravel, waiting to be opened.

Jenny pried open the waterlogged crate with the crowbar, Kevin helping on the second corner. The lid came off with a scream of rusted nails, revealing tinned provisions with salt-blurred but intact seals and a coil of rope ruined by salt crystallization.
