Afternoon work divides
Kevin is at the cottage preparing for dock work while Jenny descends the hilltop toward the garden.
Kevin spent the afternoon maintaining the Yanmar engine and checking the dinghy's structural integrity. Jenny focused on the garden, ensuring the shade cloth was properly secured against the dry-season heat.
You move through the cottage collecting the maul, longer stainless through-bolts, and the steel doubler plate for the south piling job. The tide is still rising — you have perhaps two hours before it turns and gives you the low-water window at the dock. You set the tools by the door and check the generator oil can, topping it off slightly from the reserve.
Kevin — open the flour sack and check what's left, then fry a tin of mackerel with the last of the sea beet leaves

You make your way down the slope toward the garden beds, each step sending sharp pulses from your ankle. The shade cloth over the tomato rows flaps loose at one corner — last night's wind lifted it. You'll need to test the soil pH in the lime-treated beds versus untreated, then re-stake that tarp corner before the supply boat arrives.
Jenny — walk slowly toward the garden beds, clutching the ankle to support the weight.

Jenny — check the soil pH test strips in my pocket, then head to the tomato rows to secure that loose shade cloth corner.
