Midday work and the tightening sky
Kevin is at the keeper's cottage; Jenny is at the north cliffs
Kevin cut and fitted new oak wedges with vertical grain into the dock mooring ring mortise, securing the ring against shifting loads. Jenny descended the north cliffs toward the cottage, wiping sweat and scanning for the roof. A sudden squall swept in, bringing wind and a wall of rain that caught both of them in the open.
You are in the cottage workshop, gathering the bronze bolt and oak wedges for the dock repair. You step outside toward the dock, spade in hand.
Kevin — walk to the dock with spade, bronze bolt, and oak wedges

Kevin — fetch the hatchet and a section of greenheart scrap from the workshop, then return to the dock to cut and fit new oak wedges with the grain running vertically through the mortise height

You are on the wind-scoured north ridge, notebook open on your knee, pencil moving as you trace the leaf veins. The sea beats against the cliffs below, and the sky grows heavier.
Not today, not.
Snap the notebook shut, way the pencil into my pocket, and start the steep descent back toward the cottage.
