The Storm Deepens

The light fades quickly as the evening sets in, and the wind begins to howl through the gaps in the roof-.

Kevin checked the generator shed ratchet straps and found them secure, then climbed onto the cottage roof to inspect the chimney flashing and found no gaps. Jenny sketched the sea beet morphology in her notebook, capturing the salt gland details and leaf structure with precision.

Kevin — walk to the cottage and check the generator shed lashings on the way

💭 peek at the thought
The wind's picking up faster than the barometer said it would. Roof gaps I meant to seal last week. Now it's too dark and too wet to do anything but listen.

Check the generator shed, Kevin!

Pull the seed tin closer to the center of the table and wrap it in a dry towel.

💭 peek at the thought
If the wind picks up more, the tarp on the garden will rip, and I'm too tired to chase it again tomorrow.

On it. Roof first — gaps by the chimney.

grab the storm lantern, check the generator shed ratchet straps, then climb to the roof with hammer and tarp strips

💭 peek at the thought
She's already thinking of the seeds before the engine. Priorities straight.

🌿 Jenny02:49

Be careful up there, the slate is slick.

Open the notebook and sketch the morphology of the sea beet leaves I gathered today.

💭 peek at the thought
He's going to get soaked. I should have put the kettle on before he went out there.
