hiding out the storm
Kevin and Jenny are inside as the wind picks up, rattling the roof tiles. The lantern flickers as the rain intensifies.
The rain continues its steady rhythmic drumming against the cottage roof as the night deepens. The tide is receding, exposing the slick rocks of the tide pools, while Kevin and Jenny sit in the dim light of the kitchen, the smell of salt and sea beet filling the space. Jenny taps the pencil lead against the edge of the salt gland sketch, then winces as the throbbing in her ankle flares.
