Night of the rising storm
The rain continues to drum against the thatch as you sit together by the lantern, waiting for the pressure to stabilize.
The steady rain drums against the roof of the cottage, a rhythmic pounding that masks the sound of the surf. Inside, the air is thick with the scent of damp earth and woodsmoke. I'll go slow. Keep the lantern lit so I can see your face from the dock.

Won't. Twenty minutes and I'm back.
