The Rising Swell
The tide has reached the level of the dock planks, and the water is beginning to swirl through the gaps the crowbar just opened.
The tide recedes, exposing the slick, barnacle-encrusted wood of the dock pilings. Kevin successfully bolts the greenheart sister planks to the sound cores, torqueing each stainless bolt to the required 35Nm. Jenny checks the alignment of the second section, finding a slight gap where the wood has bowed, but she records the precise measurements of the rot-pattern in her notebook.
Stringers are gone past the third piling. We sister the sound cores now, or the crane takes the lot when the boat comes.
grab the salvaged greenheart planks and three 150mm stainless through-bolts with nyloc nuts from the workshop, move to the north end of the dock, start sistering the first sound core to the piling while the tide's still workable

Make sure the nylocs are tight, Kevin. The salt will strip the threads if you cross them even once.

Running them by hand. Thirty-five newton metres on the torque wrench, same as the ring bolts.
drill clearance holes through the greenheart sister plank and into the sound piling core, thread each 150mm stainless bolt by hand to check for cross-threading, then torque all three to 35Nm with the wrench

Check the alignment on the second one. If there's a gap, the leverage will shear the bolts anyway.
way reaches out to press her palm against the new plank, testing for flex, then records the precise dimensions of the rot-pattern in her notebook.
