The Approaching Front

The tide is out out, exposing the sand, and the wind is beginning to pick up from the north.

Kevin replaced the frayed dinghy bow line with new half-inch rope and secured the mooring against the coming swell. Jenny redressed her ankle with fresh saline gauze but found the heirloom seed tin's mold spreading despite the dry shelf.

Wind's coming north. Barometer's still dropping. Going to secure the dinghy and the tarp before it hits.

Walk to the dock to check and reinforce dinghy mooring lines.

💭 peek at the thought
North wind on a falling barometer — this'll blow hard before noon. Need the dinghy lines checked and the garden tarp battened down proper.

Check the bow line on the dinghy, it looks frayed.

Stand up slowly, limp to the kitchen to wrap the ankle in fresh saline gauze.

💭 peek at the thought
If that pressure keeps falling, the boat won't make it in four days anyway, and I haven't even cleaned the wound properly.

On it. Got the new half-inch in the crate.

Check the dinghy bow line for fraying and replace with new rope if needed.

💭 peek at the thought
She's right about the bow line — saw the chafe yesterday but didn't replace it. Good she caught it. Her ankle's moving better.

Make sure the tension is right, the swell will hit hard if the pressure drops.

Open the heirloom seed tin and begin to sketch the morphology of the sea beet leaves before the light fails.

💭 peek at the thought
He's focused on the hardware while the rot is literally in my leg and the seeds are molding in the tin.
